Leroy Benton Jr. is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He received an undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science and a minor in Sports Management. While at Georgia Southern he studied sports law, athletic management, facility management, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports psychology. Under the exercise science program at Georgia Southern he participated and completed several structure research activities focusing on athletic performance enhancement, strength and conditioning, and athletic biomechanical movement.  Also, in the sports management program he participated in an independent study on the emphasis in sports contract negotiations, contract law, and event management. He received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Human Resource Management from University of Phoenix in Richmond, Virginia.  At University of Phoenix his concentration focus was on financial account management, contract negotiation, statistical management, strategic executive management, and decisions.  Since the completion of his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, he recently continued his education through Sports Management Worldwide Advisement through Dr. G. Lynn Lashbrook and John Wooten.  He received certification in Athlete General Management and Football Scouting. From this program he received academic knowledge and field research experience in athlete representation, NFL collective bargaining agreement policies and procedures, sponsorship management, draft selection, NFL scouting and evaluation, and player personnel management.  During the athlete management program he also was educated with the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the general management and draft selection process for the NFL.  He is currently a high school Assistant Football coach for the Savannah Chatham County Public School System and has been coaching for over 15 years. As a coach he has evaluated players for all football positions, served as the player personnel and management for amateur professional semi-pro football for the Seaport Sharks and Seaport Seminoles.  Leroy also served as the accountant for 3 years and now the Chief Financial Officer for 4 years at Benton’s Accountant and Tax Firm, which is his family, owned tax and bookkeeping firm. He has experience with individual, corporate, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax preparation and bookkeeping.   As an SMWW Agent Advisor, Leroy has successfully been mentored by Dr. Lynn Lashbrook and Joel Corry and met all the requirements of becoming a SMWW Agent Advisor. This includes agent regulations and player association legalities, contract negotiation, endorsements, sponsorships, ethics, collective bargaining agreements, draft preparation, marketing and recruiting. He is well adept at preparing you for your sports career and has the ambition to attain the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for a successful professional athlete. He will do whatever possible to represent your interests and help you achieve your goals as not only a sports professional, but also your life after sports as well.
