Dominic Johnson

Born and raised in Oakland, CA, Dominic Johnson has had a passion for sports since a very young age. Living approximately a mile away from the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Complex, Dominic has been attending professional sporting events since he was three years old. He grew up going to Raiders, Warriors, and Athletics games, throughout his life. Before long, basketball had become Dominic’s favorite sport and he wanted to be around the game in whatever capacity he could.


Dominic began officiating basketball in 2016 and has officiated all ages of AAU basketball, high school basketball, adult leagues, ABA, and NCAA Division 1 scrimmages. He currently serves as a board member for Tailor Made Officials Basketball Association and is a co-leader for the youth program. With aspirations of being an NBA General Manager, Dominic began taking steps to becoming a basketball scout, hoping to work his way up to the front office. In early 2022, Dominic enrolled in Sports Management Worldwide’s (SMWW) Basketball General Manager and Scouting Course. Since taking the course, Dominic has enrolled in the SMWW - NetScouts Basketball Apprenticeship. After completing the apprenticeship, he hopes to become a full time scout and eventually work for an NBA franchise.

In September 2022, Dominic began his his new role as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Covenant College Prep in Neptune, NJ. In this role, he is hoping to not only refine his evaluation skills, but add new skills in hopes of furthering his basketball career.
