Larry Brake |
Larry Brake grew up in the football-rich state of Oklahoma, where his passion for the game began early. Inspired by legendary OU coach Bud Wilkinson and later becoming a devoted fan of Barry Switzer’s iconic wishbone offense, Larry developed a deep appreciation for strategy and play design. As a young fan, he spent countless hours diagramming plays using electric football players—an early sign of the analytical mindset that would shape his future. As offensive trends in football evolved, Larry shifted his focus to the innovative run-and-shoot offense, which became a new favorite. He implemented this scheme while coaching in Moore Youth Football, where he helped young athletes understand and execute dynamic offensive concepts. After several coaching seasons, Larry transitioned into broadcasting, joining the Moore Lions radio team. There, he tracked game stats and hosted halftime and postgame scoreboard shows—bringing his analytical skills to life in real time and sharpening his talent evaluation abilities. Larry’s career took another step forward when he discovered Sports Management Worldwide (SMWW). Through a variety of courses—including football, basketball, and soccer analytics—he expanded his expertise and built a comprehensive skill set for scouting and player analysis. In addition to his academic development, Larry contributed to FanSided.com, where he wrote analytically driven articles and mock drafts. These experiences allowed him to identify hidden gems in the draft and address team needs with thoughtful insight. Today, Larry Brake blends his lifelong passion for football, coaching experience, broadcast background, and formal analytics training to evaluate talent with precision and a modern scouting perspective.
