Sheldon is currently a Sport Management Worldwide Alumni. He completed our Hockey GM and Scouting Program in May 2010. Training included: NHL and international scouting techniques, NHL and minor league hockey general manager practices, Rinknet Scouting Software, NHL collective bargaining agreement and statistical analysis. (Mentored by International Scouting Services).
Sheldon attended our 2010 Hockey Career Conference from the NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles. He was later hired that summer by Hockeysense Publishing, and currently holds the position as OHL Scout & Columnist. He is currently responsible for scouting OHL prospects that are draft-eligible for the annual NHL Entry Draft. His scouting reports for OHL players are published in the company's annual NHL Draft Preview Magazine.
Some of Sheldon's other responsibilities include the publication of weekly website reports that highlight key news and transactions in the OHL. He also published online game reports and summaries from events attended. The events that Sheldon attended during the 2010-11 season included the NHL Rookie Tournament, the World Juniors Selection Camp, the CHL Prospects Game & Skills Competition, the OHL Playoffs, the CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup, and the NHL Entry Draft from Minnesota.
Looking ahead to the 2011-12 season, Sheldon will be scouting prospects in the OHL, and OJHL hockey leagues. He will also be available to scout players in other Toronto-based leagues. You can email Sheldon at ssookdeo@smww.com to obtain samples of his work and make a scouting request.
