Meet Your Course Mentors
Rick Curran
Rick Curran, active Hockey Agent for over 40 years, has been in hockey representation longer than anyone else in the hockey industry. As of Forbes' 2019 agents list, he has negotiated almost $400 million in active contracts for the Orr Hockey Group, with his partner Bobby Orr. Over the years, Rick has represented notable clients including Brendan Shanahan, Adam Graves and Mark Recchi. Rick is known for how he utilized the then applicable Group 1 free agency and its leverage, to create new benchmarks for second contract signings within the NHL. Curran continued to make an impact on the salary marketplace when he negotiated the first $20+ million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on behalf of client Eric Lindros. Rick is a regular speaker at SMWW’s annual NHL Draft Career Conference.
Dr. Lynn Lashbrook Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, President, and Founder of Sports Management Worldwide has been working and teaching in Sports Management for over 30 years and has demonstrated a lifelong passion for helping students reach their career goals in the world of sports. In addition to his varied sports career, Dr. Lashbrook has served at the collegiate level as Athletic Director. During his years as the Athletic Director at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Dr. Lashbrook brought UAF Hockey into the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. During his hockey years at UAF, Lashbrook mentored the rising young hockey coach Don Lucia who went on to become the head coach at the University of Minnesota, where he led the Gophers to five Frozen Fours and two National Championships. Lynn is currently an NFL Agent and will assist Rick with your agency career questions.

This is a tremendous opportunity to network within the professional and collegiate sports industry by getting to know your instructors and fellow students personally via the Internet. This allows ample opportunity to network, ask questions, and discuss aspects of the course openly with instructors and classmates. The interactive zoom video chats are available via any online computer with a microphone. If you are unable to attend the chats, they are archived and you can listen at a more convenient time. These chats are so popular that graduates continue to come back and participate to enhance their opportunities.

This 8-week online hockey video analysis course teaches you to use Catapult Thunder which is used by 3,800 different teams globally. Catapult is one of the most recognizable video software in the NHL.
This course has been both an awakening and an inspiration for me. Since I am a European, I never knew the way they played this game overseas. I was amazed at the amount of information about hockey that I hadn't known about. This course was one of my best experiences so far in the hockey world. I hope I can continue my journey after completing this course. This course introduced me to some new things and helped me to put the puzzle together, so to speak, on a number of issues. I gained a different outlook on the game and learned to train my eye much sharper than I ever did before. The weekly chats were invaluable. The Rink Net program was also enlightening. I was not aware there was a program that enabled you to follow every single player in the league. For the last eight weeks, I felt like a sponge who was soaking up every bit of information I could.
